Juventus showed their fighting spirit as they came from a goal down to win pick up a 2-1 victory over Lazio in the copa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
In what turned out to be quite an unentertaining match that was characterized by poor executions of basic moves by the forwards rather than a defensive or offensive masterclass, Lazio took the lead in the 4th minute as Radu rose highest to nod in a free kick which Storari could only get a hand to but could not keep out. 6 minutes later however, Chiellini put Juventus back on level terms with an acrobatic kick after Evra had nodded Pirlo’s free kick down towards him. Both sides weren’t at their best and just before full time, Alessandro Matri thought he had won the game but he had his strike incorrectly ruled out as an offside but 7 minutes into extra time, Matri was not to be stopped as he pounced on a loose ball in the Lazio defense and fired home to give Juve the win.
Juventus are now one win away from one of the most prized results to a season, a national and continental treble. An accolade that only a few clubs like; Manchester United, Barcelona and Inter Milan have achieved. Standing in their way however are fellow treble seekers, Barcelona.
