He can see my tweet’- Cristiano Ronaldo shades Gerard Pique after winning UEFA’s best player award

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique early this week trolled Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo as he felt Real Madrid’s Champions League win last season was due to playing some “easy” teams in the run up to the final. When Pique, Shakira’s husband was asked in a Twitter Q and A session; “what kind of draw do you want in this year’s Champions League? Pique’s response was:
“An easy group stage, Italy’s 3rd in the round of 16 (Roma), Germany’s 8th in the quarters (Wolfsburg), England’s 4th in semis (Manchester City) and the return leg always at home.”
These were the clubs Real Madrid played against at the group stage last year.
So on Thursday evening, after Cristiano Ronaldo was voted the best player in Europe, he was asked about Pique’s dig at him and the club and he smartly replied;
“Well, I’m not going to answer,’ he told the El Larguero radio show. ‘What I can say to Pique is that he can see my tweet (with a) very pretty photo”

Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel will donate part of his share of the $390,000 awarded to the bronze winning Nigeria U-23 team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Mikel Obi donates his share of Japanese surgeon's cash gift to Siasia
Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel will donate part of his share of the $390,000 awarded to the bronze winning Nigeria U-23 team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
This comes after a Japanese surgeon rewarded the team for their bravery in Rio after they beat Honduras 3-2 for the bronze medal.

According to Africafootball.com,the Nigeria Football Federation and the Sports Ministry made their observations known by insisting that the money must be from a credible sources, but according to feelers from the camp of the Olympics Eagles, the NFF were only seeking for means of getting their hands on the money.
However, Takasu issued two Citibank cheques $200,000 in the name of coach Samson Siasia and $190,000 in the name of Mikel.

One of the team’s officials disclosed to Africafootball.com that the team vowed not to hand over the money to the NFF.
“Mikel has insisted all of us will get our share of the money. That we should not mind what the people in the NFF are saying. “He will make available this cash when he comes for next month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo.”
A team meeting has already resolved that both players and officials will receive equal amount of the cash with Mikel himself agreeing to give part of his own share for the chief coach (Siasia) to get more than the rest of the squad. It was further gathered that the sharing formula agreed was a flat rate for the 22 players (18 accredited players and four alternate players) and 10 officials

Ivorian Football Star Drogba Threatens Legal Action Over Attacks On His Charity

Dakar — Ivorian football star Didier Drogba said on Thursday he would take legal action over accusations that his charity set up to help children in Africa had spent less than one percent of money raised on worthwhile projects. The Daily Mail, Britain's second biggest selling newspaper, said on its website that just 14,000 pounds out of 1.7 million pounds ($2.4 million) donated to the Didier Drogba Foundation had been used to benefit children in his homeland Ivory Coast.
Britain's Charity Commission, a state-backed watchdog, said it was investigating the charity set up in Britain in 2009 by the former Chelsea striker, citing "serious regulatory concerns".
Drogba, who now plays for Canadian Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact, denied the allegations in a strongly worded statement in which he said he would issue legal proceedings against the newspaper for "incorrect and libellous" information.
He could not be reached for further comment.
"Despite their claims, there is no fraud, no corruption, no mismanagement, no lies, no impropriety," Drogba said in a statement on Twitter and Instagram where he has 1.1 million and 3 million followers respectively.
Drogba, 38, founded the charity in Ivory Coast in West Africa in 2007 and its British arm was launched two years later.
According to the World Bank, 46 percent of the 20 million population of Ivory Coast live in poverty, and four out of every 10 children of primary school age are not in education.
The Daily Mail said the charity had spent almost half a million pounds since 2009 on fundraising parties attended by celebrities including footballers Pele and David Beckham and Swiss tennis star Roger Federer.
The newspaper also said the charity had more than one million pounds in its accounts but had built only one of five healthcare clinics it claimed to be investing in.
The Charity Commission said it had opened a case to assess concerns about the administration of the charity, the role of trustees based abroad, and allegations that the foundation had provided misleading information to donors and the public.
"Further, the charity has raised and accumulated significant sums of money that have not yet been spent and further information is required over the plans to spend those funds," chief operating officer David Holdsworth said in a statement.
Drogba, who was voted by Chelsea fans as the club's greatest ever player and has twice been named African Player of the Year, has also been a United Nations goodwill ambassador since 2007.

Iker Casillas breaks down in tears as he bids farewell to Real Madrid

Goal keeping and Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas broke down in tears yesterday Sunday July 12th as he said goodbye to Real Madrid fans during a farewell press conference. After 25 years at Real Madrid (he joined Real's youth academy in 1990), the 35 year old is moving to Porto
After 25 years of defending the crest of the greatest team in the world, the most difficult day in my sports career has arrived: I have to say goodbye to an institution that's given me everything. I have come to this great stadium today to say goodbye to all of you. As of Saturday I'm no longer a Real Madrid player, now I'll be a Porto player. I am moving to Porto for many reasons.
'Firstly I am joining Porto because of the excitement that the coach has transmitted to me. Secondly, because of their affection, they have won me over. I'll do everything I can to not disappoint them and fight as hard as possible to win as many titles as I possibly can there.'
'This club didn't just teach me how to be a sportsman, it taught me how to be a person. I've learned a lot form all of my coaches. They have been a fundamental part of my development and my career. Every day we've been forming a part of Real Madrid and they've always supported me. I want to say thank you to my parents and all my family.
'Thank you to the Madrid fans for their support, helping me lift every cup, every triumph, for being with me in the good moments and the bad moments. Forgiving me a hand when I needed lifting up. I don't want to be remembered as a good goalkeeper or a bad goalkeeper, I just want to be remembered as a good person, with my faults.
'Thank you. Thank you. A thousand thank yous. Wherever I go, I will always shout Hala Madrid. I’m sure in the future we’ll see each other. I’m not going to say goodbye, because it’s not goodbye. I hope to see you soon. Thank you, to all of you.'
